Richard Caple has worked within the lighting industry for over fifteen years and currently heads up the Lighting Design department at Thorlux Lighting.

As well as managing the lighting design department, Richard is also involved in the design, development, testing and marketing of the company’s products.

Richard has been a member of CIBSE and the Society of Light and Lighting for over ten years, initially organizing lighting events in the West Midlands region. Richard is proud to serve Society of Light and Lighting as their president

      Emergency lighting for outdoor applications and muster points

      In an emergency, what do building occupants do once they have left the exit door? BS 5266 discusses safe passage to a muster point or a place of safety while the SLL Code to the Exterior Environment document recommends that in brightly lit areas, the minimum illuminance should be greater than 5 per cent of the immediate indoor lighting. How do we apply these guidelines in practice?
